“In Search of a Greenhouse” (poem)

“In Search of a Greenhouse” (poem)

Once upon a time,
I was sunshine.
My heart was gardening,
in need of watering.
You hacked a hole deep with hurt
You are: the useless dirt
that’s set aside,
a knockoff brand of pesticide,
the cob webs in the flower beds,
unattractive weeds, widespread,
the storm clouds in unpleasant weather,
a green eating mite..however,
thank you.
thank you, for digging my grave.
’cause if I had never been betrayed,
I would’ve never been this brave.
Yes, I have finally caved,
but I haven’t crumbled.
Leaving this place humbled
without a stumble
-here’s a shovel-
surprise, the sun’s still going to rise.
